Aix-les-Bains, Riviera des Alpes in Savoie, has well-being in its DNA and is committed to preserving its precious natural environment.
Choosing gentle mobility is one of the keys to fully enjoying our beautiful surroundings while helping to protect them by treating them with respect. Whether you come with your own bike or arrange a rental, Savoie is yours to explore!
You will discover that our region offers a wealth of easy, short outings to reach the beaches and viewpoints close to Aix-les-Bains. You can also plan longer rides, thanks for example to the service provided by the boat-bike shuttle that crosses Lake Bourget. And for the more experienced, there is no shortage of sporty routes either, on the road or out in nature.
Whether you ride a road bike or a mountain bike, with or without electric assistance, there are routes to suit every preference! You can set off on your own or arrange the services of a cycling guide, just as you would with a ski instructor in winter.
The town of Aix-les-Bains has developed 26 km of cycle lanes and 13 km of cycle paths, so you can get around the city comfortably on two wheels and reach the lakeside, beaches, and parks.
The greenways of Lake Bourget and the La Leysse river, between Aix-les-Bains, Chambéry and Le Bourget-du-Lac, form a dedicated, purpose-built route. You can therefore travel between the two Savoyard towns in complete safety, with very little elevation gain, riding almost the entire way alongside the water and, for the most part, in the shade of the trees. This cycle path continues beyond Chambéry as far as Lake Saint-André, through the countryside.
The loop around Lake Bourget is very popular. The routes in Savoie offer variations with different levels of elevation gain. Along the way, they feature many remarkable spots: beaches, lakeside stretches with protected natural areas, viewpoints on the departmental roads… Thanks to electric-assist bikes, this magnificent route is accessible to cyclists of all levels.
Recently renovated, the Chat cycle tunnel allows you to cross Mont du Chat safely without having to climb the mountain and its winding hairpin road, while avoiding the pass at 638 metres above sea level. Once through the Chat tunnel, you will head north for a superb journey through the vineyards, with views over the valley and the Rhône, taking you north to the beautiful little village of Chanaz. You will then follow the peaceful Savières Canal to reach, further on, the sublime historic Abbey of Hautecombe. Another possible route when leaving the tunnel: head south for the loop around the tranquil and charming Lake Aiguebelette.
The boat-bike is a shuttle that crosses Lake Bourget, linking the Grand Port of Aix-les-Bains to the Abbey of Hautecombe and the villages of Conjux and Chanaz, for a bucolic stroll along the Savières Canal. It is also an easier way to reach the ViaRhôna from Chanaz, which runs from Seyssel to Belley.
Do you prefer the mountains? No problem!
Le Revard overlooks Aix-les-Bains and is just waiting for you. Once at the summit, you will be on one of the most beautiful Nordic plateaus in winter. You can choose to head south to descend to Chambéry via La Féclaz. Or set off north towards the Bauges.
Other loops, other places: Col de Leschaux, Signal du Mont du Chat and Col de La Chambotte are three must-see goals in the region for the sublime panoramas they offer over the surrounding lakes and mountains.
For the most athletic, on a day ride, head south as far as Granier or north to Collombier.
Savoie, with its environment and landscapes, will not fail to surprise you if you set off to explore the Bauges Regional Nature Park, with its unspoilt nature, forests and waterfalls, traditional countryside, gourmet stops and religious sites. Continue on to Annecy and you will be back after a wonderful getaway.
If you would like to get off the roads and cycle paths, choose mountain biking! The Mont Revard destination is either very accessible on the plateau or more sporty depending on the route you choose. Excursions can be planned with or without a guide.
If you come with your own bike, our hotel is equipped so that you can park it securely in a box in our car park, located in a private garage.
If you are travelling light and are not looking for a sports bike, the Vélodéa agency, opposite the train station and therefore close to the hotel, offers mechanical and electric bikes for hire for adults and children. It is best to book in advance!
Many bike rental companies of all styles are also available in Aix-les-Bains and the surrounding area. Two-wheel professionals also offer all maintenance and repair services.
