Aix-les-Bains is a long-renowned thermal spa resort in France. The first thermal baths were built in Antiquity by the Romans, who recognized the quality of the waters and their health benefits, as well as the advantages of this destination nestled in the Alps between lake and mountains. It was particularly at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century that our beloved spa town’s reputation grew, thanks to the arrival of the railway at the heart of the resort, initiated by the city’s leaders. During this period, sovereigns, celebrities, writers, politicians, and others flocked to enjoy the benefits of thermal baths and treatments. The thermal establishment’s reputation became international, and many people came from around the world to benefit from a thermal spa stay.
Today, Aix-les-Bains remains one of France’s major thermal spa resorts, highly regarded by spa guests and ranked among the finest.
Our town has two different thermal springs and thus offers not one thermal center but two thermal centers.
Thermal treatments are provided within these two establishments, which offer both preventive and curative care for treating conditions, illnesses, or pathologies. Of course, the traditional 3-week approved spa treatments covered in France are available. However, each establishment also offers treatments in weekly programs and even short stays of 1 or 2 days. This makes an ideal theme for your next vacation or a two- or three-day break.
The water at the Thermes de Marlioz is beneficial in treating respiratory tract pathologies, respiratory dermatology, and ENT care. Children are welcomed from the age of 2 with specialized and personalized treatment protocols and support.
The water at the Thermes Chevalley is recognized for its benefits to the body and specializes in rheumatology. The thermal center is located on the heights of the town, on the road to Mont Revard, and offers a setting conducive to rejuvenation with a beautiful view of Mont du Chat and the surrounding area. The Chevalley thermal center is not merely thermal baths but a true thermal complex offering: swimming pools, treatments with local waters and muds, thermal spa area, massages…
In addition to these two thermal establishments, staying at the Grand Hôtel du Parc means treating yourself and enjoying, right at your place of residence, the SPA MELINA, a private spa with jet pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and massage menu.
Choosing to undergo thermal spa treatment in Aix-les-Bains, whether for one or two days, one to three weeks, also ensures that during your stay, activities and discoveries will be numerous and varied, in all seasons, for complete rejuvenation to help you forget your troubles.
